The World is Ours - Baby Steps - tercelclub.com Newsletter - vol 1 issue 2

Visit tercelclub.com!
(thanks to technik for the tercelclub.com banner)

After all that has gone on with the site in the past month, I have to say Thank You to everyone that stuck through it and continued to participate.  Today was the final major update planned, and boy was it a big update.  RuTerc was kind enough to donate hosting to get tercelclub.com online originally, but unfortunately we used too many resources and our account was shut off for about a week.  After that, the decision was made to move to a new server.

From 1gb (gigabyte) of bandwidth to 1tb (terabyte - that's 1,000 gb)...from 1gb of storage space to 100gb...we upgraded to a very high quality commercial web server to accomodate for any future upgrades we may do.  Thank you RuTerc, we appreciate your help getting us online.

Some Interesting Features

We have a simple, yet powerful Link Exchange system that is waiting for you to fill it up.  What makes it so powerful?  Reciprocal links.  That means, no one can add a link until they add a link TO tercelclub.com, so it's like trading links.  Link Exchange's are almost exclusivly for search engine ranking, so this sytem is design to be a simple list or links broken into categories.  Help us fill up the web links with links to sites you use or run.  You can submit a new link by clicking here.

Using our Gallery system, you can upload pictures many different ways.  You can upload pictures through the standard Web Browser Interface, or from another Web Site anywhere on the web.  There are several other methods (including using your Nokia phone - coming soon) but my favorite method is from my Windows XP Explorer.  You download a little applet, and it allows you to upload pictures directly from any folder on your computer.  This makes uploading pictures so easy and convenient, so check it out and enjoy.

New Additions and Fixes

QUICK REPLY - We have added a quick reply feature to the forum, which allows you to reply to a message without navigating to a new page and waiting for it to load.

CALENDAR - There is also a new Calendar system that was added to the forum.  This allows you to post events, birthdays, and more so everyone can be informed.  This is a great feature for meets!

PROFILE - You can now edit your Forum profile through a tab in your tercelclub.com profile.  If you are logged in, you can Click Here to view your profile, and then click on "Forum Profile."  In the future, we will be upgrading to a system that will allow one profile to do it all, but that is in the Beta phase so I opted to wait until final release.

GALLERY STYLE - If you went to the Gallery before, you probably noticed that it had no style and the "Gallery Options" in the side menu were all jumbled together and hard to use.  This is no longer the case.  You can see the new look of the Gallery by Clicking Here.

Birthdays in the Next Month

For the amount of members we have, this month is probably the most stacked when it comes to Birthdays.  In fact, we have Four (4) birthdays in a 10 day period, which is a lot for the amount of members we have.  If you would like others to know when your birthday is (hey, maybe they'll give you a gift!) then don't forget to modify your profile.

So you want to go 5E-FTE? (Turbo 5E-FE) (written by mulberry, posted by djsilent) - In order to make normally aspirated power you have to spend money and lots of it. To make decent power with less money you need to go turbo. You can turbo your stock 5EFE if it has less than 100K miles and if it was properly maintained. Also if your radiator has more than 100K miles, change it for an '88 automatic Tercel radiator. We all know the best way would be to buy a set of steel rods, (Cunningham/Oliver/Argo/Crower/Pauter), a set of forged pistons, (CP/JE/ARIAS/WISECO/ROSS) and a Aasco aluminum flywheel. Since we are all on a budget on this site, these are some options and it will cost money but if you first make a plan then your list, you can work towards this goal.

How-To Swap your 3E-E (91-94 Tercel) for a 5E-FE (written by Ryoga, posted by djsilent) - This article explains what steps are needed to put a First Gen 5E-FE that can be found in a 92-95 Paseo into a 91-94 Tercel.  The benefits of this swap include an 18 hp increase (about 20% more power), a 16 valve head versus the 12 valve head, more aftermarket support for the engine, and it is one of the best $$$ to hp upgrades you can make on your car.  Enjoy.

I'm new to Tercels, what are the specs of my car? (djsilent) -  In this article, you will find everything from wheelbase, to fuel economy, to horsepower of what your car came with.

In The End

Well, the second edition has come to an end.  There are some people that haven't visited the site in over 40 days, so come on back over to http://www.tercelclub.com and give it another shot.  We need all the members like yourselves that are knowledgable and want to take the Tercel/Paseo game to a new level.  Once again,  eel free to pass this email along to anyone you know that might be interested in the Tercel/Paseo community.

Most of the bugs in the website have been worked out, and we will not run out of bandwidth again. You might find a bug or 2, and if you do just post in the forum or E-Mail me and I'll do my best to get it fixed.  Thanks for taking the time to read this.
